Bugs Earn Point After Vitale’s last second Goal in OT loss to Oklahoma

The Shreveport Mudbugs (1-4-2) scored the game-tying goal at 19:59 of the third period only to fall short in OT to the Oklahoma Warriors, 3-2 Friday night at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

After Oklahoma scored a pair of goals in the 2nd period, the Bugs responded in a big way at 15:52 from a 3rd year Mudbug. It was Logan Gotinsky on a busted a play who raced in on a breakaway and beat the netminder along the blocker side w/ a quick knifing shot for his first goal of the season to make it a 2-1 contest in favor of the road team.
The Bugs got on the PP and pulled their goalie in the last few minutes and it was Evan Mitchel fired a shot towards the net which was stopped, but Eric Vitale poked home the rebound at 19:59 to even the score, 2-2 and send the home crowd into a frenzy.

The game went into OT and it was Rylan Brady who slammed in a rebound breakaway at 1:33 to help Oklahoma top Shreveport, 3-2.

The Bugs and Oklahoma will conclude their two-game series tomorrow night from George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
