History

The Hirsch Coliseum, which opened in 1954, was named after a long since passed State Fair president, William Rex Hirsch. It has been the prime venue to host some of the most infamous entertainers including both Elvis, Willie Nelson, The Monkees, Rolling Stones, ZZ Top and more; as well as livestock events, championship rodeos, high school graduations, and sports events including hosting the 1981 Atlantic Sun Conference men’s basketball tournament and has hosted the Southland Conference men’s basketball tournament and even the NWA, WCW and WWE events..

The Louisiana Hirsch Coliseum was home to the professional Shreveport Mudbugs minor league ice hockey team from 1997-2000 and from 2013 to 2015, the Hirsch was home to a professional basketball franchise through the American Basketball Association. In 2015, Encompass Sports Management came across this gem and decided to give her a little tender love and care. With George Cloutier as an inspiration, a 3 million dollar makeover was used to create George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum, a new entertainment venue for the next generation to create their own stories and memories. Soon after in 2016, George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum once again became home to the Shreveport Mudbugs NAHL hockey team.

- Accessible Seating
  George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum recognizes the needs of guests with disabilities, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Convenient wheelchair access to George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum is located on the North at the main entrance. An accessible ticket window is located on the north side at the Box Office. It is recommended that if disabled seats are required that you purchase your tickets in advance so that we can accommodate you and your party. There is handicap seating located on the North and South ends of the coliseum.

- Alcoholic Beverage Policy
  Louisiana state law prohibits the sale of alcohol to those under 21. Guests will be required to show proper identification and proof of age when purchasing alcoholic beverages. We ask you to please drink responsibly and we strongly encourage the use of a designated driver. Outside alcohol is prohibited. Immediate removal from the grounds will happen if caught.
- Animals
  Only certified service animals are permitted in George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.
- Automated Teller Machines (ATMs)
  For your convenience, an ATM is located in the main entrance of George’s Pond in front of the North concession stand.

- Baby Changing Stations
  Baby Changing Stations are located in several of the men and women restrooms throughout the coliseum. Each restroom door is marked with a stickers indicated the presence of a changing room.
- Banners and Sign
  Banners and signs are permitted providing they are in good taste, as deemed by building management. Signs must not be commercial in nature or utilize wood, metal or other types of objects for support. They must not be hung or fastened anywhere in the building or in any way that obstructs another guest’s view or signage. Signs are not permitted to be any larger than 2′ x 2′.
- Bars
  There are a wide variety of bars located in George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. Each concession stand sells a selection of beers and adjacent to each concession stand is a bar, complete with beer, wine and mixed drink selections. Located in the south end of the coliseum is the Coors Club Loft, which has an additional bar with beer, wine and mixed drink selections.

  The Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with extended hours on event days. The Box Office windows will remain open for one hour after an event has started. Tickets may be purchased at the Box Office, by calling at 318.636.7094, or by visiting www.georgespond34.com. (The Box Office excepts the following payment methods: cash, American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa.)

  - Our facility is run through the Igniter system and has a capacity of 3342-4,500 depending on if the ﬂoor (ice rink) is being used.
  - On the south side of the facility hangs a 4 pitch LED video board, 30 feet X 24 feet with a 1080px resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
  - An ice ﬂoor has been made to NHL speciﬁcations of 200 feet (61m) x 85 feet (26m) with a corner radius of 28 feet (8.5m). The distance from the end boards to the nearest goal line is 11 feet (3.4 m)

- Cameras
  Cameras are NOT permitted in the building for Mudbugs Hockey games. If you would like to bring in a camera (other than your phone) please contact the front office at 318.636.7094 or email Paige Vergo at paige@mudbugshockey.com. For all other events, camera usage policies will vary. In no way may the taking of photography block access ways or seat aisles or interfere with other guests’ enjoyment of the event. Please call 318-636-7094 in advance to verify the specific policy for each event. Please, no video, GoPros, audio recording devices, or cameras with detachable lenses larger than 1ft.
- Child Admission Policy
  For ticketed events, guests must present a ticket for entry, except for children younger than three (3) years of age who do not require their own seat. If you want your child, who is three years old or under, to have their own seat, a regular priced ticket must be purchased. Children under three (3) years of age must sit on the lap of a ticket-bearing parent or guardian. Children Rules may vary for some family/children events, which require children younger than three (3) years to present a ticket for entry if they are not purchasing a ticket. Please check with the Box Office or George’s Pond website for Children Rules that apply to the specific event you plan on attending prior to your purchase of tickets.
- Code of Conduct
  George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum is a family friendly environment. All spectators are required to act in a manner appropriate for all ages to enjoy. If a spectator does not act in a manner deemed family friendly by Encompass Sports employees, said spectator will be asked to leave to premises immediately. This can be implemented for current and future events that take place in George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.

  There are three food courts located on the North, East, and West sides in the arena that include a wide selection of items on the menu.

  Cans, glass or plastic beverage containers, squeeze bottles and thermos bottles are not permitted into George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. No alcoholic beverages may be brought into the arena.

- Courtesy
  Fan courtesy is an important element of enjoyment at George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. Improper conduct (including profane or abusive language and throwing objects) may result in ejection from the building. Repeated offenses can result in the loss of ticket privileges.

- Dress Code
  All guests in attendance are required to wear a shirt, bottoms, and shoes at all times for their own safety. George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum reserves the right to deny entry to guests wearing clothing items that displaying offensive text, content and/or images. Dressing warm is advised since it’s an ice rink.
- Drop-off/Pick-up Areas
  Drop off/Pick-up Areas are located in the front of George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.

- Electronic Cigarettes
  Electronic cigarettes are not permitted in the arena at any time. Smoking areas are located outside of the East and West concession stands. A ticket is required for re-entry.
- Emergency Evacuation
  Designated George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum ushers and other personnel have been trained in proper procedures for emergency preparedness. These designated staff members will have the primary duty of directing guests with disabilities to specific locations.
- Emergency Phone Calls
  In case of an emergency while attending a game, you may be reached at 318-636-7094. Please be sure to leave your seat location with any person(s) who may need to reach you so staff can relay the message to you.

  Main Entrances are available to all ticketed guests and are located on the East and West sides of the box office in front of the coliseum.

- Fan Conduct
  George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum intends to provide a safe, comfortable and fan-friendly atmosphere for all our guests. Consequently, building management will not tolerate disruptive or unruly behavior. The following rules have been established for acceptable fan behavior:
  - Guests wearing obscene or indecent clothing will not be permitted to enter.
  - Guests interfering with the ability of others to enjoy the event will be ejected.
  - Guests using foul or abusive language or gestures will be asked to leave.
  - Guests appearing intoxicated will be asked to leave.
  - Guests interfering with the progress of an event will be asked to leave.
  To enforce these policies, security is located throughout the building during all events. Guests violating any of these rules will not be welcome at George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. Those who observe other guests violating these policies should report the incident to the nearest building representative.
  
  Guests should also be aware that during hockey games a puck could be propelled into the spectator area with enough force to cause serious injury. Stay alert at all times while you are watching the game, including after the stoppage of play. If you are injured, ask the nearest usher for help and directions to First Aid.

- Firearms/Concealed Handguns
  Firearms and/or Concealed Handguns with or without a license are not permitted at George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. If any guest arrives at the facility with a firearm or handgun, you will be instructed to return the weapon to your vehicle. The only persons allowed to bring firearms into George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum are credentialed local, state and federal law enforcement officers with proper ID. George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum does not have a weapons check-in. We will not take possession of firearms under any circumstances.
- First Aid
  For any circumstances requiring first-aid, find your nearest police officer, usher or head to the front office for further assistance.
- Flyers/Handouts/Product Samples
  The distribution of promotional items, flyers, or printed materials is not permitted without written permission of George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum and/or its tenants. The sampling and distribution of products is prohibited.
- Food and Beverages
  Food or beverages of any kind (alcoholic included) are not permitted to be brought into George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. Concession stands located throughout the building sell various types of food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Louisiana law prohibits the sale of alcohol to all persons under the age of 21. Guests may be required to show proper identification and proof of age when purchasing alcoholic beverages.

- Impaired Guests
  George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum reserves the right to deny entry to visibly impaired and/or intoxicated guests. Any intoxicated Guests causing a disturbance during an event will be asked to leave the facility.

  George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable entertainment experience. Please be aware of our Stop-in-Play Policy, which requires guests to refrain from accessing their seats until the puck is no longer in play. This policy enables guests to enjoy a safe and unobstructed view of the game.

- Re-Entry
  Re-Entry to any event will only be allowed with a ticket in hand for each individual.
- Refund/Exchange Tickets
  All tickets purchased are nonrefundable and nonexchangeable.
- Restrooms
  Restrooms are located throughout George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum for your convenience. All restrooms meet or exceed ADA specifications. Baby change facilities are located in all public restrooms.

  Guests may not re-sell tickets at any price on George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum property. To avoid problems with counterfeit, stolen, void or other invalid tickets.

- Smoking Policy
  George’s Pond is a nonsmoking facility (electronic cigarettes are also prohibited). There are however, designated smoking areas outside of both the East and West concession stands. A ticket is required for re-entry.
- Standing Policy
  Guests are allowed to stand during an event, provided that they are only occupying the area in front of their ticketed seat. Standing in aisles and on chairs is strictly prohibited.
